We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering work packages across various system scopes for all three SEP machines. You will tackle a wide variety of mechanical handling and lifting challenges, providing innovative solutions to ensure the success of our engineering projects. Your expertise will help drive the development of fit-for-purpose mechanical design solutions while adhering to budget, schedule, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver mechanical design solutions for complex systems across multiple SEP machines, ensuring they are fit for purpose, on budget, and within schedule.
- Break down complex problems and present multiple resolution options, driving informed decision-making.
- Contribute to the production, delivery, and reporting of work plans and progress.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, to ensure clarity and alignment.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of regulations relevant to machinery delivery (e.g., SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER) to ensure compliance.
- Review and check engineering drawings, adhering to industry standards (e.g., BS 8888 & GPS).
- Review, understand, and challenge engineering calculations in line with relevant standards (e.g., BS 2573).
- Support the development of manufacturing specifications, including assisting with manufacturing queries and issues.
- Contribute to the creation of EO packs, component quality requirements, and technical files, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards.
- Produce and check design substantiation and safety case deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant safety and engineering standards.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
- Experience in delivering mechanical design solutions that meet cost and schedule targets.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues and present practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the production, delivery, and reporting of work plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of regulations relevant to machinery delivery (e.g., SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER).
- Familiarity with engineering drawing standards (e.g., BS 8888, GPS) and the ability to review and check drawings.
- Competence in reviewing and challenging engineering calculations in line with BS 2573 or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Evidence of applying engineering judgment to make evidence- and risk-based decisions.
- Experience in creating manufacturing specifications and resolving manufacturing queries.
- Familiarity with the production of EO packs, component quality requirements, and technical files.
- Experience in producing and checking safety case deliverables and design substantiation.
- Knowledge of the European Health, Safety, and Environmental Requirements (EHSRs) and their application.
