The Role
As the Head of Engineering Delivery, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Head of Engineering Delivery for Effectors is an integral part of the Engineering and Technology Discipline. Accountable for all delivery aspects and for all the functional aspects, you will also be part of the Effectors Leadership Team and the Engineering and Technology Leadership Team.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical leadership to the engineering teams of the Effectors Business Unit, ensuring that engineering activity is delivered to meet business needs. You will be leading the delivery of engineering activity across multiple programmes and projects, ranging from the design of new submarine payload handling and launch systems to the in-service support of large calibre naval guns. Delivery of engineering activity to cost, time and quality, such that our customers’ needs are supported, and programme objectives are met. An effective engineering organisation with strong leadership, good governance and effective issue identification and resolution. Development of Holistic Engineering Estimates to support Business Winning Activities and Organic Growth. Continually improved management and implementation of new/enhanced technology developments to ensure our end-user needs and growth objectives are met.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides flexible hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential Experience Of The Head Of Engineering Delivery
- Significant experience and subject matter expertise in complex system design test and qualification using a formal system engineering approach, preferably in aerospace and defence or adjacent industry.
- Significant experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary technical teams and programmes with demonstrable experience of Project Delivery on large and/or complex engineering Projects.
- Demonstrates financial and commercial awareness, management of budgets, and improvements.
- Ability to motivate teams to deliver great output on time and on cost, whilst creating a high performing team culture.
- Able to communicate complex concepts and technologies, clearly and digestibly, to non-specialists, from the most junior colleague to the most senior Customer.
Qualifications For The Head Of Engineering Delivery
- Mechanical or Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree, Master’s Degree level would be beneficial.
- Chartered Engineer at a relevant institution, or in a position to apply for chartership upon appointment.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. The successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
