Fancy a job that’ll send shivers down your spine? The Edinburgh Dungeon is on the hunt for theatrical talent to join our twisted cast and help bring Edinburgh’s gruesome past back to life. This is not your average gig – this is a 75-minute interactive tour through some of the city’s most delightfully disturbing history!

Role: Actor

You could find yourself playing a bloodthirsty Judge, the dastardly Torturer, a member of Sawney Bean’s family, the ‘Foul Clenger’, or even Mary Queen of Scots herself. Each character has a script, but you’ll need to bring flair and improv to make them your own. You’ll also control some special effects to enhance the experience.

Performances occur every 8 to 10 minutes during peak times, requiring stamina. The role involves working in tight, mysterious spaces within the dungeon. Flexibility is essential, with full and part-time contracts available. The role includes evenings, weekends, and late-night ‘Dungeon Lates’ events.

Qualifications & Experience

• A background in performance and character acting (formal training is a plus but not essential).
• Strong characterisation skills.
• A commanding voice (bonus for a Scottish accent).
• Quick script learning ability and responsiveness to direction.
• Improv skills to react to guests and handle chaos.
• Stamina to maintain energy and performance quality across multiple shows.
