Balfour Beatty is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) team. The role can be based at South Mimms, Dartford, or Leatherhead, with regular travel across the M25 network. A company car or allowance is provided. CPS is a joint venture with Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis, and Egis, responsible for operating and maintaining the M25, Europe's busiest motorway section. The role aims to develop, implement, and monitor processes to manage health, safety, and well-being risks, supporting our goal of being a safe and responsible organization for our people, supply chain partners, and communities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing day-to-day management, guidance, support, and mentoring to HSW advisors.
  • Being a visible champion for HSW, engaging with operatives and managers.
  • Overseeing the implementation of organizational standards related to HSW and providing feedback to HSW managers.
  • Monitoring communication strategies to keep HSW on the operational agenda and reporting on their effectiveness.
  • Supporting delivery of HSW training based on project needs.
  • Conducting targeted inspections of HSW management systems and supply chain audits, tracking and supporting corrective actions.
  • Managing own schedule and stakeholder communications for inspections and HSW conversations.
  • Preparing and communicating reports and presentations on performance data and action plans.
  • Representing the HSW function during meetings and conferences.
  • Reviewing work activities against safety systems and providing documented advice.
  • Leading and supporting incident investigations, ensuring effective handling and closure of actions.

Who we’re looking for

Essential:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH).
  • Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
  • A current CSCS Card.
  • Clean full driving license.
  • Experience managing a team of HSW advisors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms at an intermediate level.

Desirable:

  • Site-based construction experience.
  • Knowledge of highways construction or maintenance environments.
  • Experience working in a joint venture context.
