A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and creative Womenswear Designer to join this highly reputable fashion company, working with a range of high street and premium brands. You will be responsible for identifying emerging trends, designing commercially successful and directional multi-product collections with a strong focus on directional tailoring, evening dresses, and bridal dresses, and effectively managing the design process from concept to sample production. This role requires in-depth experience in designing across these key categories, excellent design and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
This is a permanent role, based in the London office 5 days a week.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Research seasonal trends and create trend/concept boards for showroom collections and client accounts
- Design innovative, trend-led womenswear collections, focusing on day/evening dresses and bridal, tailored to core customer needs
- Source affordable, production-viable fabrics that align with seasonal and customer expectations
- Participate in regular meetings with the Managing Director to gain insights into sales performance, customer feedback, and market demands
- Lead design team meetings to pitch ideas, review sketches, and coordinate fabric sourcing
- Communicate daily with factories, providing accurate tech packs and overseeing sample progress
- Proactively source new fabrics, techniques, and trims monthly from mills and factories
- Participate in exciting seasonal sourcing and development trips to key international markets such as South Korea, Japan, USA, and Europe, as well as within London, alongside the sales and design teams
Person specifications:
- Proven experience in Womenswear design, with a strong multi-product portfolio, especially in day, evening, and bridal dresses
- Deep understanding of fashion trends, fabrics, and garment construction for relevant markets
- Strong hand/digital sketching and technical drawing skills
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; 3D design knowledge is a plus
- Excellent communicator with strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised, able to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Open to international travel for sourcing and development
