£32,337 per annum

About the role:
To lead and manage a team of Assistant Collection Managers to deliver documentation, packing, and decant projects as part of a major storage move project, with a particular focus on Oceania.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Manage a team of Assistant Collection Managers to deliver projects that move and improve care and access to collections in storage.
- Collaborate with the project team, curators, collections managers, and conservators to support planning and delivery of documentation, packing, and decant projects.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Contribute to practical design and fit-out plans for new storage facilities.
- Manage processes related to security, audits, and essential documentation of collections.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver training, including skill-sharing initiatives.
About you:
- GCSEs or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrable interest in the British Museum\’s collections
- Understanding and appreciation of materials and objects
- Experience in object or art handling and collections care in a museum or similar environment
- Ability to manage and motivate a team
- Experience in budget and resource management
- Excellent prioritisation, planning, and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
