Circa £30k DOE Mon-Fri. Hours are flexible, 40 hrs per week. Typical hours are 7-4 but may vary depending on business needs. Our client is flexible on this.

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a reliable and hands-on Yard Manager with strong mechanical experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard. Your responsibilities include ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who can manage inventory, organise logistics, and perform or oversee routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and work areas.
  • Oversee inspection, maintenance, and repair of company equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, generators, agricultural machinery).
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of service and repair history for all assets.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs or parts procurement when needed.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing inventory, deliveries, and shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials when necessary.
  • Support logistics and operations teams with equipment allocation and yard logistics.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Mechanic, or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical background; ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs (oil change, replacing bulbs, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with maintaining heavy machinery and tools.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure.
