Prevail Partners is seeking an experienced and adaptable Protective Security Manager to lead all aspects of the company’s protective security programme. This role merges the previously advertised Counter Intelligence & Security Officer role with the planned Facility Security Manager function, creating a single, comprehensive position responsible for protecting our people, assets, operations, and reputation, both in the UK and overseas. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of counterintelligence, insider threat, personnel and physical security, and be capable of shaping and delivering a mature, scalable protective security and resilience strategy across the business. This includes potential readiness to lead protective security in line with UK Government and client security accreditation frameworks, and to support Prevail’s future ambitions in elevated security environments, such as Ukraine.
Key Responsibilities
- Protective Security Leadership
- Lead all protective security efforts across the company, including personnel, physical, information, and technical security.
- Develop and deliver a coherent Protective Security Plan, scalable across the UK and operational environments such as Ukraine.
- Serve as the company’s lead adviser on facility and corporate security matters, ensuring readiness for compliance with applicable UK Government protective security requirements.
- Act as the lead adviser to the business on protective security policy, incident response, and contingency planning.
- Counterintelligence & Insider Risk
- Establish and lead a company-wide Insider Threat Working Group, collaborating with HR, Cyber, and operational leads.
- Develop strategies to detect and mitigate espionage threats, insider risks, and hostile intelligence activity.
- Coordinate the delivery of risk assessments, briefings, and targeted interventions.
- Security Risk Management & Assurance
- Design and maintain risk-based frameworks to manage security across operations, people, and facilities.
- Oversee vetting and clearance processes, ensuring alignment with UK government standards (e.g. HMG SPF).
- Lead on protective security planning in support of operations in elevated-risk theatres, including Ukraine.
- Support incident management and investigations, including security breaches, suspicious behaviour, or data loss.
- Security Awareness & Culture
- Lead the company’s security awareness and education programme.
- Deliver briefings, training, and practical guidance across teams, including staff operating in high-risk areas.
- Build a visible and positive protective security culture, embedded across project delivery, corporate functions, and field operations.
Required Experience
- Background in UK intelligence, law enforcement, defence, or government protective security roles.
- Proven experience in counterintelligence, insider threat, and facility or personnel security.
- Strong working knowledge of HMG Security Policy Framework and associated government or client security requirements.
- Commercial sector security experience, particularly within critical national infrastructure or regulated environments.
- Experience building and leading protective security functions—ideally from the ground up.
- Ability to operate with discretion, integrity, and credibility with senior stakeholders and across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting security operations in high-risk or post-conflict environments is highly desirable.
Desirable Attributes
- Commercial sector security experience, particularly within critical national infrastructure or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity risk and working alongside cyber and IT security colleagues.
- Experience developing training or awareness programmes.
- Professional certifications (e.g. SRMC, CPP, PSP).
- Working knowledge of ISO 27001/31000/31030.
