The EY Financial Services AI & Data team is continuing to grow and develop unique advisory propositions aligned to market needs and demand. We are currently seeking outstanding Data Modelers (Senior Consultants) with strong experience in AI and Data solution design and implementation within the Specialty Insurance domain to join our team and contribute to our ongoing growth and success on a global scale.
The opportunity The AI & Data practice works collaboratively with our clients to enhance their ability to solve complex business problems by exploiting data and analytics strategies and solutions. We provide expertise and delivery in three core areas which all work closely together:
- Data Architecture & Engineering – Focusing on next generation data solution architecture design and implementation
- Data Management & Strategy – Supporting our clients with Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data and Analytics Target Operating Model Design and wider Data Office and CDO support functions
Your key responsibilities include:
- Work as part of a delivery team on complex Financial Services programs, primarily focusing on data modeling, with additional roles likely to include techno-functional analysis, data strategy, data analysis, solution design, and end-to-end implementation management.
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, machine learning, and transactional use cases.
- Translate complex business and analytical requirements into scalable data structures across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake) and modern data architectures (e.g., data Lakehouse, data mesh).
- Work with stakeholders to define data standards, canonical models, and entity relationships across domains.
- Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to ensure models are performance-optimized and aligned with storage, compute, and pipeline strategies.
- Provide governance support by defining metadata, lineage, and documentation for critical data assets.
- Evaluate and introduce modeling best practices, tools, and automation to increase model reuse, version control, and deployment efficiency.
- Lead data modeling reviews, ensuring consistency across programs, and contribute to architecture boards or governance forums.
- Contribute to client proposals, RFP responses, and thought leadership related to enterprise data modelling and AI/ML readiness.

To qualify for the role you must have some or all of the following:
- Previous FS experience in Insurance Sector with a good understanding of Specialty Insurance especially Lloyds of London Market.
- Experience in data modeling, data architecture, or enterprise data design.
- Deep expertise in relational, dimensional, and canonical data modeling techniques.
- Strong experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, SqlDBM or SQL DB-native modeling tools.
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, GCP BigQuery) and modern data storage solutions.
- Strong SQL skills and good knowledge of data warehousing, lakehouses, and OLTP/OLAP systems.
- Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management principles.
- Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and security standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Understanding of technology trends and implications on the FS industry, including data platforms, digital drivers, cloud architecture, integration tools & approaches, AI methods & techniques and the challenges faced in establishing effective delivery of value across the business.
- Demonstrable interest and awareness in emerging technologies.
