Redwing Recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a full time Engineering Fleet Manager to join our client’s Transport team. Location: Onsite, West London Working Hours: Monday to Friday, full time 40 hours per week. On occasion, you may be required to work outside of these hours. Salary: A starting salary of £62,400.00 per annum, increasing to £66,560.00 per annum upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Fleet Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance and compliance of the vehicle fleet. This dynamic role involves ensuring that the vehicle fleet operates efficiently, adheres to all legal requirements, and is maintained to the highest standards to ensure minimal downtime and maximum cost efficiency. The Engineering Fleet Manager will report to the Operations Director and Transport Manager and work closely with senior management to implement effective policies, manage supplier relationships, and oversee internal maintenance teams. Key Responsibilities: Fleet Compliance and Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles comply with current legislation and adhere to all necessary health and safety and environmental regulations and standards. Conduct regular vehicle gate checks and fleet audits to ensure high standards are maintained. Maintain an industry-leading MOT pass rate, conducting pre-MOT inspections and coordinating repairs as necessary. Strategic Planning and Cost Management: Work closely with senior management to develop and implement strategies to improve fleet cost efficiency. Monitor fleet costs and budgets, ensuring expenditure remains within allocated limits. Review and manage R&M (Repair & Maintenance) agreements, ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness. Vehicle Maintenance and Servicing: Manage rigorous schedules for vehicle maintenance and servicing to ensure downtime is minimised. Supervise and produce accurate and comprehensive records of all inspections, services, and repairs to ensure compliance and facilitate auditing processes. Ensure effective defect reporting processes and procedures are established and adhered to. Supplier and Service Provider Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with service providers, including tyre and parts suppliers. Oversee the performance of external maintenance providers, ensuring all services are completed to high standards. Regularly review and assess the performance of internal fitters and external service providers, ensuring continuous improvement. Team Leadership and Performance Monitoring: Oversee the performance of the internal maintenance team, providing guidance, support, and training as required. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal productivity. Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of fleet operations, including maintenance, repairs, compliance checks, and budget tracking. Assist in preparing reports on fleet performance, operational costs, and compliance status for senior management review. Monitor and ensure effective use of defect reporting systems and performance tracking. Requirements: Proven experience in Fleet Management, ideally within the transportation or logistics industry. IRTEC certified. Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, compliance, and regulations. Strong background in budgeting, cost control, and supplier management. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with experience in managing both internal teams and external providers. Capable of liaising with management, drivers, and service providers. Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities whilst ensuring timely service and maintenance. Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate and thorough record-keeping, as well as prompt defect reporting. Cost optimisation expertise, skilled in developing strategies to reduce costs while maintaining fleet compliance and operational efficiency. Strong problem-solving abilities, able to quickly identify and resolve issues to minimise fleet downtime and disruptions. Proficiency with Fleet Management software and data reporting. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Fleet Management, or a related field desirable not essential. IRTEC or equivalent desirable highly desirable.
