Role: Financial Controller
Location: Outskirts of Barnstaple
Contract: Temporary ongoing for 6 months
Salary: DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
Acorn by Synergie are recruiting for a Financial Controller on a temporary ongoing basis.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Regular reporting of sales and GP of all channels to company directors and stakeholders from multiple channels and building new reports where required
- Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts, with focus on the completeness and accuracy of the P&L account, prepayments, accruals, stock, cash, payroll journals, FX adjustments etc
- Maintaining inter-company accounts
- Providing monthly reports with variance analysis and summaries to Budget Holders
- Preparation of Annual Financial Statements. Ensure Statutory Accounts are produced to a required deadline, and managing company Audit process
- Month end Balance sheet Reconciliations, including stock
- Identifying cost savings and negotiating new contracts where possible
- Manage the accounts support team to ensure they are working efficiently & effectively - recognising and updating processes where required
- Liaise with other departments to prepare/review Annual Financial Budgets for discussion with and reporting to the Head of Finance
- Maintain VAT Control Account and ensure correct postings of input and output. Ensure VAT Returns are submitted on time and with payment if necessary
- Oversee and mentoring where required of the postings of the Purchase Ledger to ensure the accuracy of the transactions. Put procedures in place to ensure payments are made to suppliers on time
- Assisting Accounts Payable with international payments; shipping documentation; freight and duty accounting
- Processing bank payments and assisting with payment run
- Managing credit control for the wholesale channel
- Managing sales invoices and credit notes
- Reporting on commission to company agents
- Reporting on stock availability for pre-orders
Experienced required:
- 3 years or more experience in a Financial Controller role required
- AAT Qualified
- Competence in Microsoft Office suite (Excel and Word), Sage or other accounting software programmes
- Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
- Strong communication skills, both written & verbal
- Good attention to detail
