Job Description
The role will cover the entire project lifecycle, from initial inception, through design and procurement, to site delivery and commissioning.
This is a full-time position requiring frequent travel to Manchester or Birmingham.
Responsibilities
- Lead project management commissions, ensuring their successful delivery.
- Manage and complete commissions efficiently, on time, and to client satisfaction.
- Deliver projects safely and environmentally responsibly, meeting time, cost, and quality standards in accordance with GRIP or PACE.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams to meet client requirements.
- Assist in defining project requirements and maintain project documentation.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and project reviews to inform governance decisions.
- Oversee the safe and effective delivery of projects of varying complexity.
- Coordinate project components like scope, schedule, budgets, risks, and quality.
- Understand the broader value of projects beyond financial impact.
- Act as the primary interface with clients, fostering strong relationships.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members.
The approach to all projects requires flexibility, creativity, excellent presentation skills, and effective communication with clients and consultants. The successful candidate will deliver project management services within a client-focused, professional team.
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Project Management or related engineering/construction field.
- 3-6 years of experience in a consulting environment providing comprehensive project management services.
- Chartered status with RICS, APM, CIOB, or similar preferred.
- Experience in the rail industry with knowledge of railway systems and processes like GRIP or PACE.
- Proven experience managing complex projects, teams, budgets, and contracts.
- Strong decision-making skills in ambiguous environments.
- Knowledge of Construction Design Management, railway assets, safety management, and H&S legislation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and IT skills.
- Ability to advise on project risks, value, and programme holistically.
- Team-oriented with a proactive, responsible attitude and a commitment to quality and social responsibility.
