A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking a Production Quality Engineer to join its team in Thetford. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring product and process quality, supporting operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing activities.

About the Role

As a Production Quality Engineer, you will work closely with production, engineering, purchasing, and inspection teams to resolve quality issues, support new product introduction, and maintain compliance with industry standards. You will take ownership of quality KPIs and be involved in improving processes and reducing waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve production and supplier quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure quality standards are met in pre-production and design stages.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (scrap, rework, PPM).
  • Support internal audits and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF standards.
  • Improve and maintain non-conformance and defect notification processes.
  • Facilitate and promote structured problem-solving techniques (e.g. 8D, DMAIC).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts.
  • Support inspection activities and apply appropriate measurement system analysis (MSA) tools.

  • Proven experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949 or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with problem-solving methodologies and quality tools (FMEA, CAPA, 8D).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality-related software/tools.
  • Experience in high-volume production environments is desirable.
