Our client is a global leader in health diagnostic tools and services, specialising in providing easy-to-use diagnostics to improve patients’ lives. Due to company expansion, they are now seeking an experienced Principal Scientist to join the company as the subject matter expert (SME) on Fluorescent In Situ Hybridisation (FISH), and support the quality control requirements for product performance.

The role:

  • Working as part of the Quality Control (QC) team, the Principal Scientist role is a fully onsite position.
  • The role does not involve direct line management; however, you will be responsible for the management of ongoing projects which will include mentorship and supervision.

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead projects through effective planning, organisation and implementation to successfully deliver QC validation of new products.
  • Utilise expertise in FISH diagnostics to conduct testing to ensure quality compliance.
  • Conduct practical tests for effective IHC/FISH staining techniques.
  • Undertake slide screening of Class I, II and III medical device products.
  • Support cross-functional teams to deliver a smooth progression of the product development cycle.

Suitable applicants:

As this position is acting as a subject matter expert on FISH Assays, it is essential that applicants have a deep understanding of using FISH as a diagnostic tool, both practical use of FISH assay and assay development.

Additional technical requirements include:

  • Strong Histology and Immunohistochemistry background with practical experience in the biomedical industry.
  • Experience working with industry quality standards (e.g. ISO 13485) and quality management systems.
  • Prior experience in implementing quality documentation and procedures.
  • Knowledge of design controls for regulated products.
  • Ideally educated to PhD or MSc in a relevant biological discipline, or with equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and a problem-solving approach to challenges.
