An opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to support and develop the Service, including Gynaecology oncology services at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is available.

If successful, the post holder will join an existing team of 15 consultants providing a comprehensive Obstetrics & Gynaecology Service to the western part of North Nottinghamshire, particularly serving Mansfield, Ashfield, and Newark Districts. The role involves contributing to a 1 in 14 on-call rota, designed to meet the requirement of 60 hours per week of consultant presence on the Birthing Unit, and helping meet the safe obstetric care standards outlined in the Ockenden Report. Flexibility is offered to work within a hybrid on-call rota if an obstetric-only role better suits the candidate\’s skills.

Main duties of the job

Additional expertise in high-risk antenatal care, preterm birth prevention, and risk management/governance would be of particular interest.

• Maintain the highest clinical standards in patient management
• Share knowledge within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department
• Teach and train junior staff and medical students
• Participate in departmental and Trust clinical governance and audit activities
• Ensure active engagement in continuing medical education (CME)
• Develop maternal medicine leadership and service development roles
