The opportunity
By 2050, the energy need will have increased by 50% compared to today, and HVDC is a prerequisite to meet this demand in a greener, smarter, and more sustainable way. Both the HVDC market and the target for our new HVDC quality solutions and products are growing. To be able to perform all the upcoming and challenging projects we have in front of us, the need to strengthen our team with additional opening for an experienced and high-calibre Senior Bid & Proposal Manager. Your task will be to craft our bid strategy for large and complex pursuits, managing a diverse team of various competencies to implement the strategy and ensure that Hitachi Energyβs offering is consolidated and qualitatively conveyed to the client. You will be joining a team of 10+ based globally. Your base will be in Birmingham City Centre (2-3 days onsite) where our new offices are located. You will be part of the HVDC product group within Hitachi Energy.
HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used to transmit power over long distances with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems.
Responsibilities:

- Digesting and translating client requirements and needs into a competitive overall solution based on the Hitachi Energy portfolio.
- Frequent contacts with colleagues as well as clients in other countries, although your focus will remain on the European market.

Your background
- Tender Management Experience: The candidate should have substantial experience in managing mega projects and/or large-scale system sales and tendering.
- Technical and Commercial Expertise: While not mandatory, having technical and commercial experience with HVDC systems or similar technologies is highly advantageous. This expertise will be beneficial as the role involves working closely with HVDC technology, ensuring that technical and commercial aspects are well-integrated into the proposals.
- Leadership experience: Demonstrate strong leadership skills with a structured approach to guide the team through various challenges. This includes providing clear direction, managing changes, and ensuring the team remains focused on achieving deliverables.
- Learning Mindset and Collaborative Spirit: The candidate should possess a learning mindset, always seeking to improve and adapt to new information and technologies. They should also be able to work well in a team, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas and solutions are shared openly.

Mobility
You should hold a clean driving licence and be free to travel throughout the UK and Europe. Travel to Sweden is also anticipated, as this is where our HVDC head office and the majority of our Technical Specialists are located. Please note we are unable to provide visa support on this position.
