We are looking for an Associate Sustainability Engineer for our Sustainable Asset Services team.
Role Purpose: JLL's Sustainable Asset Services support the creation of resilient real estate assets for the future. We guide clients through the evolving landscape of sustainability to deliver retrofit, fit-out, or property transactions aligned with ESG goals and industry best practices. Our focus is on decarbonizing buildings, protecting assets from climate change, and creating healthier environments for people.
What this job involves:
- Providing technical leadership within the Sustainable Asset Services team.
- Reviewing existing buildings through site surveys, as-built information, energy data, and research; quantifying key energy performance factors.
- Creating and reviewing detailed thermal models; applying understanding of building engineering and fabric to design efficient NZC buildings.
- Overseeing work of junior colleagues, including coaching and training.
- Managing projects or client programs daily, with support from directors.
- Liaising with clients to discuss NZC or other technical design solutions.
- Collaborating with the cost management team to evaluate cost-effective NZC solutions.
- Preparing NZC briefs, feasibility studies, and design guides.
- Conducting whole-life carbon assessments.
- Integrating NZC advice with broader sustainability strategies, coordinating with standards like BREEAM and WELL.
- Monitoring industry trends, evaluating new products/services, sharing best practices, and publishing case studies.
- Assisting with business development and client pitches.
- Supporting the growth of the business with leadership collaboration.
To apply, you need to be/have:
- A passion for sustainable and NZC buildings.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A Building Services or Environmental Engineering degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Sustainable Design.
- Chartered status.
- At least 8 years of experience in building or environmental engineering or design.
- Proficiency in IES VE software, CIBSE TM 54 thermal modeling, and familiarity with IES Apache HVAC and DfP modeling.
- Experience in designing and constructing low energy/NZC buildings, preferably in retrofit markets.
- Knowledge of Part L/SAP modeling and upcoming regulatory changes.
- Competence in AutoCAD, ideally Revit.
- Strong understanding of UK GBC and LETI standards for NZC buildings.
- Familiarity with BREEAM energy credits.
- Knowledge or experience with OneClickLCA and Passivhaus standards is desirable.
- Experience in broader sustainability consulting, including WELL and BREEAM.
