The Director, EHS/Compliance will manage the environmental compliance for the NA region to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and communicate global emerging legislation and regulatory activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, external auditors, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies to successfully resolve identified areas of non-compliance or requests for information.
  • Maintain and improve the environmental management systems (ISO 14001) to ensure compliance with or exceeding the requirements of environmental laws, regulations, policies, and guidance documents.
  • Establish strategic Environmental processes and develop/implement policies and procedures that support Draeger's short- and long-term objectives, including training and awareness programs.
  • Maintain Environmental Incident recordkeeping and reporting, corrective actions, and assist with incident mitigation.
  • Report on key metrics, challenges, opportunities, and carbon emissions for NA.
  • Monitor compliance with specific environmental issues of importance such as stormwater management, hazardous waste, TSCA reporting, sustainability, decarbonization, etc.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reduce environmental impact, carbon footprint, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of action plans to ensure proper implementation.
  • Acquire, manage, and maintain all environmental permits and recordkeeping.
  • Manage hazardous, universal, special, and solid wastes, including generation and disposal to comply with regulatory requirements and recycle in accordance with State and Federal standards.
  • Develop and implement processes that ensure corporate environmental governance requirements are fulfilled within the businesses.
  • Manage interface with insurance company contacts and internal insurance specialists regarding services for risk evaluation and program improvements.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental related field.
  • 8-10 years related work experience.
  • Mastery of the following EHS&W topics: Process Safety, Machinery safety, Pressure systems, Permit to work, contractors and construction safety, Dangerous goods, Material storage and handling, Industrial hygiene and health, Health and wellness, Ergonomics, Chemical and Biological Agents, Environmental and Sustainability.
  • Knowledge of DOT, IATA, EPA, and other Regulatory Compliance.
  • Experience with PADEP, RCRA, SARA, CERCLA, NESHAP, TSCA, FIFRA, among others.
  • ISO 14001 Certification.
  • Risk Management and GMP Auditing.
  • Site Remediation.

This role is based out of our Telford, PA facility, which offers employees walking trails, an onsite fitness center with yoga and fitness classes, a self-service cafe, and a state-of-the-art Design Center. Telford is our US manufacturing site for the Neonatal product line and supports Draeger’s Safety products. It also hosts key US functions including Medical Sales and Service, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory, Quality, and Finance.

Draeger has multiple sites across North America and field-based sales and service positions. Our North America headquarters is in Telford, PA, with additional US sites in Andover, MA, and Houston, TX, and a Canada site in Mississauga, Ontario. Our US headquarters in Telford supports neonatal manufacturing, other key US functions, and global customer supply.
