Senior Project Manager - Net Zero Renewables Delivery

As a key group within the business, Scottish Water Horizons delivers projects installing renewable technologies on SW assets to help provide cheaper, greener energy solutions and support SW towards its 2040 Net Zero Goals and Scottish Government regulatory targets. We deliver PV & hydro systems and are currently re-establishing a wind program.

As a Senior Project Manager in our Delivery Team, you’ll oversee capital investment renewable projects across Scotland, from planning to execution, ensuring they meet our strategic goals and facilitating workshops to determine future initiatives. You’ll lead efforts to achieve Scottish Water's 2040 Net Zero targets and foster relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. Your projects may include installing PV panels on water treatment works, installing hydro turbines to capture compensation flow, or building wind turbines on wastewater treatment site grounds. You’ll seek innovative solutions to climate challenges and improve service delivery, conducting project reviews and reporting to optimize outcomes.

You’ll ensure projects progress through governance approvals with all necessary documentation, review monthly reports on costs, milestones, and resource demands, and manage processes from planning through construction to commissioning, adhering to deadlines, budgets, quality standards, and industry best practices. Compliance with governance, health and safety, quality, environmental regulations, and CDM & NIS regulations is essential. You’ll set a positive team culture aligned with Scottish Water’s aims, acting as a role model and mentor, supporting skill development and coaching, particularly for graduates and modern apprentices.

What you’ll need:

• Proven success in capital investment project delivery, familiarity with renewable technologies, construction health & safety, CDM regulations, customer engagement, NEC4 contracts, and financial management.
• Ability to steer projects during the construction phase and manage teams effectively is crucial.
• Strong networking skills and the ability to build relationships with internal teams, local authorities, DNOs, and colleagues are important.
• Results-driven with a focus on budget and quality, and proactive in suggesting process improvements.
• A hybrid working setup with a base location adaptable to your home, regular site visits requiring PPE, and a valid driving license are necessary.

The not-so-small print:
