Role Summary: The main objective of this role is to assist with the operations of the store and support the store manager in achieving strategic short and long-term goals. The role involves taking store accountability for sales, service, profitability, and loss prevention. The goal is to foster a store community that encourages creativity and inspires the Urban Outfitters customer. The role also includes providing feedback and guidance to facilitate employee development and succession planning, building community relationships that reflect Urban culture, and upholding the 'Peers Teaching Peers' philosophy.
What You'll Be Doing
- People: Overseeing a large team, recruiting, training, and developing managers to enhance daily business productivity, assisting in developing Department Managers for future growth and succession planning, managing performance development activities such as appraisals, individual development plans, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions, upholding company standards and acting as a positive role model.
- Leadership & Communication: Ensuring Department Managers conduct effective daily and departmental meetings, modeling leadership and inspiring a shared vision, participating in the rollout of training and operational initiatives, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Managing the Environment: Coaching management to oversee customer service and set daily goals for a positive store environment, maintaining floor presence by training staff on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management, achieving mystery shop results by guiding team adherence to customer service standards.
- Operations: Conducting walkthroughs in the absence of the Store Manager with feedback and goals, ensuring operational procedures are performed accurately and timely, meeting stock loss goals through loss prevention training and practices, participating in merchandise processing to ensure stock availability, planning and executing projects with strong organizational skills, upholding health and safety procedures to protect staff and customers.
- Merchandising & Display: Facilitating communication between management and creative teams for merchandising, training staff on interpreting fashion trends to generate creative solutions, ensuring floor sets are well-organized, scheduled, and completed on time, maximizing sales through merchandise management and understanding of store profitability, staying updated on trends and customer profiles, managing stock levels based on reports and market trends, applying entrepreneurial skills to exceed store targets.
