Our client is a leading provider of construction safety solutions. They have a wide-ranging client base in Rail & Construction, Power, Transmission, Manufacturing, and Distribution. They are currently looking for a Transport Operations Manager at their site in Abingdon, Oxfordshire on a Monday to Friday basis.
Reporting into the UK Head of Operations, you will be expected to provide oversight, governance, and support to the operation and wider team in the effective and efficient management of all commercial vehicles, plant, fleet, and drivers, including safety, specifications, budgets, targets, and legal requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Agreeing vehicle and equipment specifications, including bespoke requirements
- Obtaining quotes and negotiating with suppliers to achieve cost-effective outcomes
- Divestment of equipment, optimizing returns, and considering responsible and environmental factors
- Supporting and constructively challenging Regional Operations Managers to achieve cost effectiveness through the budget process, and close monitoring of maintenance and repair expenditure
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory needs, including:
- Operator Licence compliance
- Legal and driver’s hours compliance requirements
- Mandatory vehicle inspections and Statutory Lifting Inspection compliance
- DVSA KPI monitoring in the “green zone” and ensuring positive trend analysis for the business
The Ideal Person for the Transport Operations Manager role:
- Experience in a similar role and environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as routing software and Taco systems.
- Ability to cope in challenging situations.
- Work accurately with good attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Dedication to customer service and accuracy.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a positive attitude and honesty to admit when things go wrong.
