The Role
This role is part of our Saab UK Business Development and Sales Team, deployed into our Saab Seaeye (Underwater Robotics) business. As Head of Business Development and Sales, you will lead strategic planning and execution to drive growth, identify new opportunities, build partnerships, and manage a team to meet revenue targets. You will understand, articulate, and shape the future of Subsea Robotics, partnering with customers across markets including Offshore Energy and Defence. You will also have line management responsibilities for Saab Seaeye\’s Sales Managers and Customer Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and generate new sales opportunities through targeted business development.
- Establish and execute sales plans and strategies.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer relationships.
- Respond to RFQs and assist in creating commercial/technical proposals.
- Participate in meetings for contract negotiations.
- Deliver product and company presentations.
- Manage a network of Distributors.
- Support prospect qualification and develop strategies for custom proposals.
- Develop technical and commercial solutions to enhance competitiveness.
- Follow Saab\’s Winning Business (WB) process, including CRM.
- Participate in bid/contract reviews and approvals.
- Lead contract handover processes.
- Support variation orders for existing contracts.
- Provide market intelligence to support bids.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, key drivers, and competitor positions in the subsea robotic market.
- Represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor\’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Business Development or Technical Sales roles.
- Experience with ROVs or subsea robotics.
- Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
- Understanding of business principles and market dynamics.
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Industry knowledge of target markets.
- Proven experience in sales or business development, especially with multi-engineering systems.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
- Enthusiasm, drive, and ambition.
