FutureLearn is looking to build our teams with people who share our passion for lifelong learning, career empowerment and education for all. The Sales Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering effective training programs for sales advisors who support prospective students in their journey to enrolment. The role aims to enhance the sales team’s performance, improve conversion rates, and ensure best practices in consultative selling within the higher education sector.

What does success look like:

  • Design, develop and deliver comprehensive sales training programs.
  • Conduct onboarding training for new sales advisors, ensuring they have knowledge, skills and confidence to engage effectively with prospective students.
  • Lead role-play exercises and workshops to reinforce key selling techniques and soft skills.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, refresher training, and development sessions to improve sales performance and adherence to best practice.
  • Develop sales scripts, objection-handling techniques, and consultative selling strategies.
  • Monitor and assess training effectiveness through feedback, performance metrics, and direct observation, making necessary improvements to training materials and methods.
  • Work closely with sales management to identify performance gaps and create targeted training sessions.
  • Utilize and implement digital tools, including LMS, CRM platforms and e-learning software to develop and deliver training content effectively.
  • Ensure all training aligns with regulatory requirements, ethical sales practices and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with marketing, academic services, student support and admissions to ensure sales advisors have the needed support, a deep understanding of the programmes, as well as entry requirements.

What you will bring to the table:

  • Proven experience as a Sales Trainer or Sales Coach preferably within the higher education sector.
  • Demonstrated success in improving sales team performance through structured training programmes.
  • Experience developing training content, including e-learning modules, presentations and interactive workshops.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Education system, ideally the higher education sector.
  • Experience in student recruitment is highly desirable.

Education

  • Certification in Sales or Coaching is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Fluent in both English and Italian.
  • Strong skills in facilitation, presentation and coaching.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to motivate and inspire others with a vibrant and dynamic style.
  • Proficient in consultative and solution-oriented selling strategies with a focus on closing sales.
  • Possesses an analytical mindset.
  • Proficient with digital tools and platforms.
  • High level of emotional intelligence.
  • Skilled in problem solving.

Desirable skills

  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training tools.
  • Degree in Business, Education, Sales or related field.
