This is an exciting opportunity to join Remote as a Senior Legal Counsel – Employment within our Legal Team. We seek a talented employment lawyer interested in supporting our mission: delivering pragmatic and innovative legal solutions while safeguarding Remote from risks.
As our global footprint expands, each new country presents legal challenges. The Legal Team ensures our business models, contracts, employee management, and data protection remain compliant across jurisdictions.
This role is an individual contributor position within the Employment, Product & Commercial Legal team, part of our larger Legal Team. We empower team members to own their projects, with support from our Chief Legal Officer.
Our Employment Specialists are responsible for:
- Supporting employee lifecycle and People teams with internal and external employees;
- Ensuring compliance of Remote’s products and platform with employment laws across jurisdictions;
- Assisting with international expansion and product streamlining.

Expertise
This position requires an employment lawyer licensed in Spain with deep, practical knowledge of Spanish labor law . You will advise on compliance, employee lifecycle issues, and develop scalable processes for our clients and in-country teams. Collaboration across borders and advising on international employment challenges are key aspects of this role.
Key responsibilities
- Advising on employment law issues across multiple jurisdictions
- Developing contract templates and knowledge resources
- Ensuring a compliant workforce in all territories
- Strategic input on business models and opportunities
- Resolving legal issues proactively
- Collaborating cross-functionally to manage risks and meet business goals
- Building expertise within the Legal Team and mastering employment law for specific regions
- Identifying legal issues and working with stakeholders to implement solutions
What you bring
- Experience in advisory and contentious employment law covering the entire employee lifecycle
- Interest in working for a tech-scaleup and HR-tech
- Willingness to understand international employment law challenges
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken

- Knowledge of employment agreements in multiple countries

Remote Compensation Philosophy
Our Total Rewards approach ensures fair, unbiased pay and benefits globally. We pay above local rates and consider geographic pay differentials to stay competitive. The base salary range for this role is $54,400 – $91,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, and location. Compensation is reviewed regularly, especially for internal mobility.
