Stantec is involved in some of the world's largest dam and hydro projects. We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and development of innovative hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects such as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales. We are known for delivering high-quality outcomes and are committed to sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support testing of mechanical systems including turbines, pumps, generators, and control systems for hydropower projects.
- Take line management responsibilities for team members, support business growth, and project delivery.
- Engage in project roles such as advisory, Ownerβs Engineer, detailed design, troubleshooting, and installation support.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, supply chain, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and support team development.
Candidate Requirements
- Chartered status or Incorporated with IMechE, or working towards it.
- Experience in mechanical design for hydro and pumped storage systems.
- Proficiency in technical specifications, calculations, and reporting.
- Strong presentation skills and experience in collaborative design environments.
- Willingness to travel, including international opportunities.
