We are seeking a qualified and ambitious Senior Ecologist to deliver top-tier ecological services to our clients across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients, attend site meetings, and produce quotations.
  • Design and specify surveys and projects.
  • Supervise and undertake field survey work.
  • Write and supervise reports for ecological consultancy work.
  • Complete Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and strategies.
  • Collaborate on joint projects and support operational teams.
  • Manage a team of Ecologists and Assistants.
  • Appoint and manage seasonal Field Ecologists.

Core Skills and Requirements:

  • Degree in ecology or related subject.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional ecological experience.
  • Knowledge of UK and European legislation on protected species and habitats.
  • Experience in ecological appraisals, impact assessments, HRAs, and SSSI consents.
  • Strong field surveyor skills and protected species survey licences.
  • Proven experience in line managing staff.
  • Full membership of CIEEM.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:

  • Chartered Ecologist or Environmentalist.
  • Master's degree in a related subject.
  • Additional survey licences.
  • Experience as an expert witness at planning inquiries.
  • Proficiency in specialist software.
  • Tree Climbing & Aerial Tree Rescue qualification.

Working Hours:

Standard hours are 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility. Some anti-social hours required during survey season.
