We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a minimum of two to three years’ experience to join our expanding Water team based in our London office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging and internationally significant projects in the mining and infrastructure sectors, with a strong emphasis on hydraulic, hydrological, and water resource engineering. Due to a growing project pipeline in our London office, Knight Piésold has an immediate requirement for a civil engineer to support our Water team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers on water management and infrastructure design projects, contributing to international mining projects as well as broader civil and environmental engineering work. This role involves a strong focus on hydrology, hydraulic engineering and water balance modelling. The candidate will participate in an array of tasks such as mine water management planning, stormwater and sediment control design, water storage design, tailing storage facility design, hydraulic modelling, and on-site construction support. International travel to support mining and infrastructure projects overseas is expected and forms an essential part of the role. Support the analysis and design of surface water and environmental infrastructure systems for mine and development projects Conduct hydraulic and hydrological modelling using appropriate software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and Goldsim Assist in storage facility planning and design, including stormwater ponds, tailings dams, and water transfer structures Participate in construction supervision and commissioning activities on international mining and infrastructure project sites Prepare technical reports, drawings, and design documentation to support project delivery Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Civil Engineering, a Master\’s degree is desirable 2–5 years of experience in civil, water, and hydrological engineering, ideally with exposure to mining and/or remote project environments Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles and related design approaches in the mining or water sectors Experience with software tools such as HEC-RAS or similar 2D modelling software (ISIS, MIKE, FLOW 2D etc.), HEC-HMS, GoldSim (desirable) or water planning software (WEAP, SWAT, etc.), AutoCAD, and GIS (e.g., ArcGIS/QGIS) Additional experience with slope stability modelling (e.g., Slope/W, Slide), geotechnical or infrastructure design is advantageous Willingness to travel internationally for periods of fieldwork A second language is desirable; fluency in English is essential Must have the right to work in the UK This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, technically driven team within an independent and employee-owned business.
