An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Foot and Ankle Surgeon to join us at Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet and become a highly valued member of our multi-disciplinary team, bringing your expertise and skills in soft tissue Orthopaedic procedures.
As a Consultant at Practice Plus Group, you will have access to excellent facilities within a well-structured and relaxed environment. Our unit performs a high volume of surgeries, including foot and ankle procedures, with a focus on delivering exceptional care. In 2021/2022, we performed over 1500 hip and knee arthroplasties, and we anticipate growing our surgical volumes in the coming year. Our average length of stay for both hip and knee surgeries is significantly below 2 days, and we are expanding our same-day discharge pathways through our enhanced recovery programme. We would welcome a surgeon who can contribute to the further development of these initiatives.

What you'll be doing
Reporting to our Medical Director, Alison, you will perform a range of orthopaedic procedures on patients referred to the Hospital. You will be treating both NHS and private patients referred to the hospital, working in accordance with hospital protocols and working practices. As well as being able to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in elective orthopaedic procedures from your substantive experience, you will be required to perform surgical procedures on patients referred to the hospital, working in accordance with hospital protocols and working practices. In addition, you may be required to carry out other operations that are within your range of expertise, and are contracted to the hospital.

As a UK registered professional, with a listing on the Specialist GMC register, we will support you with your ongoing CPD and career development. Please ensure that your CV used in applying includes details of what interested you in the role as well as describing relevant experience within the past 3 years i.e number of cases performed and outcomes from national database (when relevant). In time consultants joining Practice Plus Group will be guided through the process to achieve accreditation with BUPA, applicants already with this accreditation are considered favourably and encouraged to highlight this in their application.
