Dewey Group are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing specialist contractor in the geotechnical and foundations sector who are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join their in-house technical team. Based at the company’s head office in Doncaster, this is a key role focused on the design and delivery of permanent works solutions across a range of commercial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the geotechnical design process from concept through to construction, working closely with clients, project managers, estimators and the delivery team. This is a fully office-based role, ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys technical challenges and wants to be part of a collaborative team in a business that invests in quality, innovation, and professional development.
Your role will involve producing calculations, technical drawings and reports for retaining structures, embedded walls, and deep foundation systems. You’ll also contribute to value engineering reviews, provide technical support to site teams, and ensure all solutions are compliant with current design codes and regulatory standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline (MSc desirable)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in geotechnical or structural design roles
- ICE Chartered
- Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, CDM Regulations and relevant industry guidance
- Proven experience in the design of embedded retaining walls, piling, and related ground engineering systems
- Proficient in the use of geotechnical design software (e.g. WALLAP, Slope/W, Plaxis, or similar)
- Strong AutoCAD skills; ability to prepare and review technical drawings
- Ability to lead design reviews and liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of technical accuracy and attention to detail
- A proactive and organised approach to managing workload and meeting deadlines
- Commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental best practice
