We’re looking for a proactive Operations Controller to join a fast-paced, industry-leading commercial vehicle workshop in Coventry. If you’ve got a background in workshop leadership, commercial vehicle operations, and KPI management — this one’s for you.
You’ll be leading from the front, making sure the workshop delivers on time, every time. From daily planning and coordination through to team performance, invoicing, claims, and production meetings — you’ll have your hands in the heartbeat of it all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full service process from planning to job closure, ensuring compliance at every stage
- Monitor workshop KPIs and implement changes to improve performance
- Run daily production meetings to manage workloads, resources and shift efficiency
- Support Customer Service Reps and Workshop Supervisors with job specs, quoting, and workshop loading
- Oversee job profitability and productivity while ensuring high-quality service standards
- Handle complex or contentious job handovers with customers
- Regularly review team competence and deliver training where needed
- Manage time recording, wage submissions and lost hour reporting
- Support the Service Manager in producing the annual business plan
What You’ll Need:
- Strong background in commercial vehicle operations or workshop control
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Technology (or equivalent)
- Technical workshop knowledge and understanding of VOSA / MOT testing standards
- Confident leading a team and planning day-to-day operations in a busy workshop
- Clear communicator with the ability to stay organised under pressure
- Experience managing service KPIs and productivity metrics
