Our client is a growing manufacturer of low voltage electrical products seeking a proactive and commercially focused Business Development Manager. This is a key role aimed at driving business growth, expanding market presence, and developing long-term client relationships within the electrical engineering and power distribution sectors.
This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong sales acumen and experience in electrical systems. Working closely with senior leadership and internal departments, you will take ownership of identifying new opportunities, shaping commercial strategies, and securing new business in a competitive market.
Responsibilities
- New Business Development: Proactively seek out opportunities in both local and national markets within the low voltage electrical industry.
- Sales Strategy Implementation: Design and execute plans to grow revenue, improve profitability, and enhance market positioning.
- Client Relationship Management: Nurture existing customer relationships while building a strong pipeline of new clients. Act as a trusted point of contact for key accounts.
- Contract Negotiations: Lead negotiations with potential customers to secure commercially sound agreements that align with business objectives.
- Market Research: Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer demands to inform strategic decisions.
- Internal Coordination: Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and commercial teams to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Tender & Proposal Support: Collaborate with estimating teams to prepare bids and proposals that accurately reflect customer requirements and business capabilities.
- Sales Reporting: Track performance metrics, maintain accurate forecasts, and present regular updates to senior management.
Candidate Requirements
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ experience in a business development role within the electrical or related sector
- Solid knowledge of LV switchgear, electrical systems, and distribution infrastructure
- Proven track record in generating new business and growing market share
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness and a strategic, analytical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desirable (Not Essential)
- BS 7671 β 18th Edition certification
- Valid CSCS card
