About the Role: We are seeking a Lead CAD & BIM Manager to manage and develop VVB's CAD and BIM capabilities across the business. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for managing internal and outsourced resources, developing standards, ensuring quality delivery across all projects, and supporting integration with client expectations. You will act as the company's representative with clients, drive innovation in digital modelling, and support VVB's ambitions to lead the way in BIM-enabled project delivery across our sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate VVB's CAD & BIM offering to meet client and industry standards.
- Oversee CAD & BIM Managers assigned to projects and sectors.
- Lead the development and integration of VVB's digital modelling systems with project and estimating software.
- Ensure a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and associated documents (MIDP, TIDP, MPDT, etc.) are developed and implemented for each project.
- Manage internal and outsourced CAD & BIM resources, including recruitment and supplier frameworks.
- Ensure effective and accurate graphical data, GIS, asset data, and visualisations throughout all project phases.
- Support project delivery through the production of design drawings, models, and visual materials.
- Align BIM systems with project management platforms like ASITE.
- Engage with bid teams to support tenders and client presentations.
- Host regular meetings with Operations, Design Managers, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver training programmes to enhance BIM skills across the company.
- Foster continuous improvement through the adoption of innovative digital solutions.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Strong experience leading CAD & BIM functions across large infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in producing graphical data and 3D modelling for MEP designs.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation (Bentley Systems), and Autodesk Revit.
- Familiarity with BIM standards BS EN ISO-19650 and UK PAS 1192.
- Experience of draughting and producing MEP design deliverables (e.g., lighting layouts, cable routing, HVAC schematics).
- Working knowledge of CDE platforms like ProjectWise.
- Strong leadership and team management experience.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015 and designer responsibilities.
- Ability to carry out site surveys and coordinate supply chain graphical production.
Desirable:
- Ability to lead and manage third-party BIM consultants.
- Ability to create visualisations and promotional videos for projects.
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects in Transport, Power, or Utilities sectors.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- HNC or HND in Engineering.
- In-depth working knowledge of 3D modelling and BIM.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desired:
- Degree in Engineering.
- Proficient across full Microsoft Suite.
- Membership of CIBSE, IET, or a similar professional body.
