Calibre Search are working alongside a major UK-based multidisciplinary Engineering Consultancy who have been providing high-quality services to their clients for over 120 years. Due to a healthy forward workload, they are looking to appoint an Engineer to join their Marine team in the Newcastle office.

Their portfolio of marine work includes:

  • harbour and quay walls
  • piers
  • wave protection structures
  • marinas & berthing facilities
  • coastal land reclamation

You will be given the opportunity to work alongside their specialist team of dedicated Engineers and Technicians on a varied portfolio of civil engineering works in the marine environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and assessment of marine structures, so you must be competent in the use of relevant technical analysis, design software and AutoCAD.

You will ensure work is compliant with Health and Safety legislation such as the CDM Regulations and other applicable codes. You will liaise and communicate clearly in a professional manner to colleagues, clients, contractors and other designers to offer advice and guidance on matters relating to your work.

Working in close collaboration with team members, you will review designs and drawings completed by team members or other parties for compliance with design standards, best practice guidance, contractual obligations and client expectations, ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output is maintained. As you progress in the role, you will be expected to attend design meetings, site meetings and carry out site inspections.

Possessing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, you will have a minimum of three years UK post-graduate experience. You will work on projects with consideration to the agreed project budgetary limits and timescales and have awareness of business development activities. You will be responsible for the preparation, issue and management of technical project information, including calculations and drawing information, in accordance with the standard requirements.
