Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client to source a permanent member of staff to join their team. This is a full-time vacancy for an R&D Design Engineer. Our client is a well-established engineering company, they manufacture a quality product which they supply to customers around the world, in excess of 50 countries worldwide. This is a key role within the business, working from their new, modern, spacious premises. A big part of this role will be to help with new product development/innovation and contribute ideas for continuous improvements to engineering/production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product development/innovation.
  • Engineering/production process improvements.
  • Design Engineering, using AutoCAD, Solidworks & Keyshot.
  • Taking concepts from idea to saleable product.
  • Patenting new products.
  • Developing existing product lines.
  • Liaising with customers to research and develop products for their specific requirements.
  • Reviewing material choices, treatment options etc.

Our client offers a lovely work environment, with a friendly team. This role has no direct reports, but will require the successful candidate to liaise regularly with customers, suppliers and other team members.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience in using AutoCAD, Solidworks and Keyshot.
  • Friendly, professional and committed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to haves, but not essential:

  • PLC programming skills.
  • Proven record of taking a product from concept to a saleable product.
  • Experience of getting a product through the patent process with legal support would also be an advantage.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 5pm / Friday 8.30am – 4pm

Remuneration: £40 - £45k, negotiable depending on experience.
