This is a technical sales / proposals position, with a mechanical bias based in Ely, Cambridgeshire and offering full-time, permanent hours with a competitive salary and benefits package.
The role will be contributing to all aspects of the customer journey, from initial enquiry to project solutions, costings and the final proposal preparation. You'll be pivotal in turning an opportunity into an actual sale and with your mechanical knowledge, be able to contribute to the understanding of the structural limitations of solutions and assist in the costings of such structures.
In this varied and fast-paced role, you'll be:
- Creating project solutions based on the individual client's needs including general arrangements, costing estimates and proposal documents
- Creating BOM's and costing estimates for projects
- Ensuring each proposal is delivered on time and with the relevant unique numbers associated with it included
- Setting up and organising proposal review meetings
- Ensuring clarity and understanding of the cost calculation and build-up of the proposal highlighting the risks and ensuring these have been minimised
- Ensuring there is a clear understanding of any commercial risks within the proposal, and if necessary provisions are made
- Continuous improvement of internal technical and costing calculations
- Utilising previously purchased/design items to come up with new project solutions
- Managing the preparation of the 'bid / quotation' for submission
- Facilitating internal sign-off procedure for all formal offers prior to release
- Handover process to sales for submission and further negotiation
You’ll need to have a strong commercial understanding to prepare technical and commercial proposals and be experienced in bid writing, pricing, and tender submissions, along with the following skills and experience:
- The ability to understand supporting structures and design process of such structures
- In-depth knowledge of Mechanical handling equipment and design process
- The ability to understand official RFQ (Request For Quotes)
- Read and understand technical drawings
- Be a constant innovator and client orientated solutions provider
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- AutoCAD 2D proficient /qualified (Autodesk AutoCad 2018)
- The ability to use Software to analyse structures for estimation purposes
The role is primarily office based but will also require travel within the UK and overseas to attend site visits and customer meetings.
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Monday-Friday - 39 hours per week with flexibility over start/finish times between 7am-6pm.
