We are delighted to announce that we are recruiting for a new Folk Programmer role. Since 2008, Kings Place has established itself as a central and forward-looking arts venue in folk programming. This includes the showcasing of established folk artists such as Karine Polwart, Sam Lee and Julie Fowlis and supporting the development of up-and-coming artists, through avenues such as the Future Folk series and annual Folk Weekend.

The Folk Programmer will be responsible for the curation of the Kings Place folk programme, including its own key projects, festivals and series, co-promotions and hall rentals. The role exists to develop the folk content at Kings Place and produce an annual folk programme that is of the highest quality, is creatively exciting, financially successful, grows audiences and builds on the unique Kings Place brand, drawing national and international attention.

The ideal candidate will have experience in programming and a sound knowledge of event production. An avid folk music advocate, you should be knowledgeable and passionate about folk music and have relevant industry contacts. A strong communicator, you will have extensive experience of building positive relationships with UK and international artists, agents and promoters. With a creative flair and a commercial approach, you’ll be expected to balance the demands of the programme while retaining a sense of humour. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who wants to consolidate their programming experience and lead on a folk music programme in a world-class venue setting.

This is a part-time, 3 days per week hybrid role.

Salary: £32-36k (pro-rata) depending on skills and experience.

Closing Date: 6th June 2024.

Kings Place operates a hybrid working model. The role is partially venue based, for meetings and collaborative working. Administrative work can be done remotely with line manager approval. Staff work approximately 60% on site and 40% WFH, and our standard office hours are 10-6, but this is open to flexibility. This role is open to flexible working arrangements.
