Neos Engineering are partnered with a long-established company specialising in power generation and critical backup systems. With decades of expertise and a strong reputation for quality service, the company is now looking to expand its engineering team due to consistent growth and new long-term contracts.

The Role

As a Mobile Generator Engineer, you'll split your time with field-based assignments around Livingston and surrounding areas with occasional workshop duties if business requires. You'll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and fault finding on a variety of diesel and gas generator systems, supporting both commercial and industrial clients. This is a varied and rewarding position ideal for someone who enjoys a combination of hands-on mechanical and electrical work with customer-facing responsibilities.

Key duties include:

  • Service, maintenance and repair of generator sets (diesel and gas)
  • On-site fault finding, load testing, and system diagnostics
  • Preventative maintenance and emergency call-outs (with overtime available)
  • Workshop-based rebuilds, inspections and electrical testing if required

The Candidate

We're looking for someone with proven experience in generator engineering – ideally in both mobile and workshop environments. You should be confident working independently, have strong problem-solving skills, and be able to represent the business professionally in front of customers.

Essential:

  • Background in diesel generator maintenance and repair
  • Comfortable with both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel

Desirable:

  • Experience with control panel wiring and diagnostics
  • Manufacturer-specific training or certifications (e.g. FG Wilson, Perkins, Cummins)
  • Diesel Generator experience
