Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Midweek and weekend overtime available)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Utility Surveyor to join our expanding rail infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing detailed utility detection surveys, ensuring full compliance with PAS 128 standards. You will use technologies such as Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Locators (EML) to accurately locate and map underground utilities, supporting the planning and execution of rail projects.
As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in mentoring junior surveyors, maintaining quality standards, and collaborating with engineers and project managers to integrate utility data into project planning and delivery. Your expertise will be essential in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality survey outputs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out and supervise PAS 128-compliant utility surveys across rail infrastructure projects
- Operate and interpret data from GPR and EML equipment
- Analyse utility records and produce accurate, detailed survey drawings and reports
- Ensure survey deliverables meet project requirements and industry standards
- Mentor junior utility surveyors and support their professional development
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to support informed decision-making
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards
- Assist in the continuous improvement of survey methods and technologies
About You:
- Proven experience in utility surveying, ideally within the rail or construction industries
- Strong working knowledge of PAS 128 and utility detection equipment (GPR, EML)
- Ability to interpret utility records and integrate findings into CAD or GIS platforms
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to data collection and reporting
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
