RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create programs for the CNC machines from models and drawings using CAD/CAM packages for offline programming and online programming on the machines.
- Specify / select the correct tooling to manufacture the part using the most efficient processes.
- Specify / select the correct work holding system to manufacture the parts.
- Safely operate / use the machine.
- Load programs onto the machine and select the defined tooling and set it with the correct offsets.
- Conduct inspection of parts being produced by the machine they are setting and operating.
- Always use manual override to control the feed rate and monitor the distance to the job when setting a new job on a machine to prevent crashes of tooling into part/chuck/work holding/fixture/billet table/etc.
- Always stop the machine before a crash/impact that will cause damage to the machine/tooling/component or materials.
- Produce conforming parts to the drawings.
- Complete deburring operations as required.
- Change inserts, tools offsets when required.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- Use the SFDC (Shop Floor Data Collection) to clock on and off the jobs accurately.
- Report non-conforming parts on SFDC and to the team leader.
- Suggest improvements to the program/tooling that will improve the productivity/quality of the parts or process.
