Are you looking for a role to support young learners in their early years? GSL Education are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate EYFS Teaching Assistant to work at a warm and inclusive Client school for children with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

About the School:

The school was rated as “Good” by Ofsted in 2024. The school supports a large number of students with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities. They have a comprehensive pastoral framework based on a caring ideology that fosters healthy relationships by promoting high standards and encouraged challenge. With an emphasis on communication and cognition, the school's Semi-Formal curriculum is broken down into six sections. In Key Stages 3 and 4, their goal is to promote independence and communication through relevant, real-world experiences, with a focus on the transference of skills. EYFS Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to children within Early Years following the EYFS framework.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Assist in the delivery of play-based learning activities.
  • Assist in implementing learning activities according to child’s needs.
  • Support the development of communication, social, and sensory skills.
  • Establish rapport and trusting relationships and communicate effectively with children and their families and carers.

EYFS Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools/EYFS).
  • Have experience working with young children, ideally within a SEN setting.
  • Possess a good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development principles.
  • Passionate about children’s learning and has knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn within the EYFS.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience or understanding of behaviours linked to additional needs.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
