Young People Support Worker Location: South Tyneside Salary: £32,000 – £39,000 per annum Job Type: Full-time (4 days on, 4 days off) Manual Driving Licence Required In-person role Make a Real Difference Every Day Are you passionate about supporting young people to build brighter futures? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same? Are you enthusiastic, motivated, and ready for a rewarding challenge? If so, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for resilient and compassionate Support Workers to join a team dedicated to empowering young people through tailored, person-centred care. You’ll play a key role in helping them develop life skills, achieve their goals, and overcome complex behavioural and emotional challenges. What You’ll Do Your work will align with the young person’s individual care plan, and will include: * Providing personalised care and daily support (e.g., meals, medication, hygiene) * Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support techniques * Identifying and addressing safeguarding risks on a daily basis * Coaching and mentoring young people to encourage positive outcomes and independence * Communicating with families, local authorities, emergency services, and education providers * Writing clear, accurate reports (daily logs, incident reports, ABCs) * Following GDPR and data protection standards * Ensuring compliance with CQC regulations and Health & Safety (HASAWA) * Carrying out vehicle safety checks and transporting young people to appointments and activities Key Requirements * Must be willing to travel to Gloucestershire for 4 days of training (Accommodation, breakfast, and lunch provided) * Must hold a full UK manual driving licence * Must be available for a 4 days on / 4 days off rota What We’re Looking For * Experience working in a care or support setting (professional or lived experience) * Strong conflict resolution and risk management skills * Calm, resilient, and compassionate under pressure * Excellent communication and report-writing skills * Confident using Microsoft Word and digital recording systems * A team player who can also provide guidance and mentor others * Passion for making a real difference in young people’s lives Qualifications * Essential: Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within 12 months) * Desirable: First Aid qualification (training can be provided)
