General Overview

David Phillips FF&E is a specialist contracting business actively engaged in the PBSA, BTR and Later Living markets and has been trading for over 10 years. The core team comprises sales, design, estimating, procurement and project / site management personnel, with installation services provided via a select group of third-party contractors who have worked on behalf of the business for many years www.davidphillips.com

The key duties of CAD Technician will be timely creation of optimised and compliant technical solutions, prepare design documentation to support work winning and executing work activity, configure technical solutions that fit with tender / quote allowances.

Principal Tasks

  • Pro-actively engage with customers to help manage the design process
  • Develop concept of design information for bid proposals and project deliveries
  • Take responsibility for chasing missing information from customers
  • Take responsibility for highlighting interface issues with customers
  • Check any new projects reflect previous projects with same customers
  • Help to source reliable, bespoke product information from supply partners
  • Coordinate technical drawings with manufacturing partners
  • Liaise with project delivery teams to ensure buildability
  • Help create and maintain internal design standards
  • Help create and maintain internal REVIT family (block) information
  • Use and help improve design templates, processes and procedures
  • Perform any necessary duties as required under CDM regulations

Qualification & Experience:

A) Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design / engineering / interior design
  • Familiarity with Autodesk products for design / modelling
  • Customer focused
  • Working in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

B) Desirable:

  • Knowledge of software development tools (e.g. Python. Dynamo, etc.)
  • Knowledge of gaming software (e.g. Unreal Engine)
  • Knowledge of FF&E and related trade packages
  • Knowledge of construction and relevant regulations
  • Understanding of standard layering / naming conventions
  • Exposure to RIBA Plan of Work, BIM Level 2 and ISO 19650
  • Knowledge of construction
