We are seeking a highly skilled Datadog Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design, implement, and optimize observability solutions, focusing on Datadog’s capabilities. The role involves providing technical leadership in observability practices, tool integration, and team upskilling to support effective monitoring, logging, and incident management.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Observability Implementation:

Architect, implement, and optimize observability solutions using Datadog and complementary tools like New Relic, ELK Stack, Kibana, and Grafana.

Design and execute strategies for log aggregation, event management, and performance monitoring to ensure end-to-end visibility of systems.

Framework and Best Practices:

Establish observability frameworks based on the Principle of Least Privilege.

Provide guidance on industry best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting, ensuring data security and compliance.

Recommend cost-effective solutions to optimize observability tooling.

Team Enablement:

Upskill incumbent teams on Datadog toolchains and observability best practices to enable effective dashboarding, incident resolution, and insights generation.

Conduct workshops and training sessions to build organizational capability in observability practices.

Project Delivery:

Work across various delivery methodologies, including Agile, SAFe, Waterfall, Kanban, and DevOps, to deliver observability solutions.

Roll out observability frameworks and capabilities across large organizations, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems.

Incident Management and Optimization:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues identified through observability tools.

Drive continuous improvement by monitoring system performance and providing actionable insights for optimization.

7+ years of experience in IT operations, monitoring, and observability.

At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Datadog in designing, implementing, and managing observability solutions.

Technical Expertise:

Proficiency in Datadog and other observability tools such as New Relic, ELK Stack, Kibana, and Grafana.

Strong knowledge of logging frameworks and event-driven architectures.

Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or similar languages.

Tools and Technologies:

Observability Platforms: Datadog, New Relic, ELK Stack, Grafana, Kibana.

CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab.

Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Security Practices: Implementation of the Principle of Least Privilege frameworks.
