An exciting opportunity has arisen at Stoke City Football Club of the English Football League for a full time Academy U18 Lead Coach to support its football operations at our Training Ground Facility at Clayton Wood in Trent Vale. The coaching department plays a key role in supporting the development of young players at the Club. This is a fantastic opportunity to coach and develop players in an elite environment, continuing to build on the success of the Academy in progressing players to the first team.

The primary focus is to work with the Academy U18 Assistant Coach in delivering high quality sessions to holistically develop all U18 players. The successful applicant will be an integral member of the Professional Development Phase coaching staff and will be able to build and formalise relationships with players and their families to support their Academy journey. You will also be required to deliver the Club’s coaching programme to other phase players as needed.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Football background as either a player or coach.
  • Minimum of the UEFA B Licence and Advanced Youth Award.
  • Experience of coaching in Academy Football preferably Category One.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate confidence in creation and implementation of a players’ development plan, recording evidence and providing reports and feedback to players, parents/carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to plan, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of elite football.
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver and support key messages.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high degree of flexibility to cover evenings and weekends work as required.
