In this dynamic role, you'll train and mentor qualified LGV drivers both in the classroom and on the road, ensuring they stay safe, upskilled and compliant. No two days are the same—so if you’re looking for variety and a challenge, this is the role for you!
Why This Role?
- Varied & Engaging – 60% classroom training, 40% on-road coaching
- Based in either Erith or Purfleet with some travel across other sites (mileage and hotel costs compensated)
- 4-day week (10-hour shifts) – with occasional pre-planned night & weekend work, booked weeks in advance!
- Diversity within role - lead and inspire the next generation of LGV drivers through engaging inductions, CPC courses, driver upskilling and ad hoc training projects, making sure our drivers are fully equipped to deliver and keep themselves safe every day.
Be the Go-To Training Expert
As an LGV Instructor, you’ll inspire and develop new and existing drivers at Ocado. You’ll be the trusted expert on-site, providing hands-on coaching and classroom-based training that enhances skills, builds confidence, and ensures compliance.
Your training will:
- Improve service levels and driver performance
- Reduce Occupational Road Risk and enhance road safety
- Support core health & safety objectives across the business
- Help shape best practices in LGV training and development
About You
An NRI or NVDIR qualification is desirable, but no NRI or NVDIR certification? No problem! For the right person, we’ll support you in getting fully qualified. You will also need:
- Full Clean Driving License (preferable)
- Minimum 3 years LGV Class 1 experience
- Internal applications should have no live sanctions
- Up to date Driver CPC
- Up to date knowledge of the highway code and traffic regulations
- Knowledge of LGV technology and basic maintenance
- Experience of completing on-road driving assessments
- Experience of delivering classroom presentations
- Experience of developing driver behaviour and attitude
