An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Conflicts Lawyer to join the London office of a leading US law firm. Working at the forefront of risk and compliance, you’ll play a critical role in managing conflict clearance for new business and lateral hires across a global platform. As a Conflicts Lawyer, you will support the firm’s regulatory obligations by managing the identification and resolution of legal and business conflicts. Working closely with Partners and the Department Director, you will guide the firm’s approach to conflict clearance, supervise Conflicts Analysts and Specialists, and assist in refining internal processes and tools. The role is central to the firm’s ability to accept new matters, clients, and legal talent with confidence and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse complex conflict reports for new matters, clients, and lateral hires.
  • Identify, assess, and resolve ethical and business conflicts across UK and US jurisdictions.
  • Liaise directly with lawyers and internal stakeholders to provide clear, actionable conflict guidance.
  • Assist in drafting engagement letters, waiver letters, and establishing information barriers.
  • Mentor and support junior team members and contribute to training programmes.
  • Research professional conduct rules and jurisdiction-specific guidance to support conflict resolution.
  • Support the implementation and refinement of conflicts and intake systems (e.g., IntApp).
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for conflict checking and clearance support.
