My client, a family run leading company in its field, are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join their team as a Payroll Assistant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing and recording all payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Based in new state of the art HQ in York you will sit within the payroll & HR departments and provide assistance to both.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, calculating, and entering employees' data into the payroll system
  • Processing and issuing payroll checks, direct deposits, and wage garnishments
  • Reviewing and reconciling payroll reports
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering employee inquiries
  • Keeping up-to-date with payroll laws and regulations
  • Assisting with payroll audits and preparing reports for management
  • Assisting with general HR queries as and when required

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Payroll Assistant or Administrator with some exposure to payroll is desirable
  • Proficient with payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of labor legislation and payroll best practices
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A can do attitude and a willingness to learn is essential

Day-to-day

  • Entering and updating employee information in the payroll system
  • Calculating and processing payroll on a bi-weekly or monthly basis
  • Responding to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and benefits
  • Auditing and reconciling payroll data to ensure accuracy
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
  • Assist in HR with basic ad hoc duties as required
