Express Recruitment are proud to be working with a European defence manufacturer who are one of the world leaders in their field. Due to continued growth and as part of a success planning strategy to succeed a senior member of their Quality department, this is a rare opportunity for an individual to join a thriving organisation that is offering a clear career development path.

In return, you will receive a generous starting salary of up to £40,000 amongst a host of other benefits including matched pension up to 5%, non-contractual annual bonus, salary sacrifice car scheme, access to retailer discounts, flexible working and 12pm finishes on Friday.

Due to the nature of the sector our client operates in, the successful candidate will be subject to a standard DBS check. Further to the nature of the role, a full UK driving license and passport is required due to occasional travel commitments.

  • Inspect goods when received, ensuring records on the quality management systems are maintained.
  • Liaise frequently with overseas sub-contractors, providing push back on quality issues such as non-conforming parts.
  • Operate a range of calibration measuring equipment to perform detailed inspections on a range of precision parts, including checking geometric tolerances.
  • Maintain the calibration and SAP systems.
  • Perform periodic audits of the quality system and produce regular reports to display findings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional department heads to undergo a range of quality focused projects, including helping to drive business improvement processes.
  • Travel to Germany on occasions to visit partnering factory and provide audits and risk assessments of the supplier’s manufacturing plant.

Requirements:

  • Degree or formal qualification in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experienced in light manufacturing environment highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with a range of inspection equipment, including Callipers, Micrometres, Shadowgraphs, Hardness Testers, Verniers etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex precision CAD diagrams.
  • Confident in ability to communicate with sub-contractors and raise compliance and quality issues in a professional but authoritative manner.
  • Proficient IT skills, including SAP, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Eligible and willing to obtain an enhanced DBS certification.
  • Full UK driving license and valid British passport.

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday (37 Hours)
