Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Contract: Permanent | Full Time

An established, privately owned UK building contractor with a strong regional presence is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. The business delivers a diverse portfolio of projects for repeat and blue-chip clients across multiple sectors and is known for its collaborative, relationship-driven approach.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional ideally based in East Anglia, working between live sites and a modern head office environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Divisional Surveying Director, you will take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, from pre-contract support through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full commercial management and financial performance of live projects
- Accurate cost forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting
- Placement and management of subcontracts in line with financial and performance criteria
- Managing variations, scope changes, valuations and final accounts
- Ensuring compliance with contract procedures, including loss & expense
- Managing and maintaining strong client and supply-chain relationships
- Evaluating bids to ensure best value and commercial compliance
- Supporting risk identification, mitigation and commercial decision-making
- Assisting pre-contract teams with tenders and future opportunities
- Leading and mentoring Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyors where applicable
About You
You will be a confident, professional commercial lead who is comfortable acting as a key point of contact on projects.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within main contracting
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and applications
- The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Strong IT skills with the ability to produce accurate financial reportsA proactive, solutions-focused approach to challenges on live sites
- Good knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- A full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
