Class 1 HGV Vehicle Transporter / Recovery Driver. £38k plus average uncapped monthly commission of £1,500 upwards!
Due to continued expansion and 3 new Transporters on order, BMS Cars requires further Class 1 HGV Vehicle Transporter / Recovery Drivers to join our team. This job requires the driving and loading of a 26 tonne twin deck 8 car transporter. BMS Cars is a busy and well equipped garage based in Sidlesham just south of Chichester. We have a 5000sq ft workshop with 8 ramps and an MOT bay. We also deal with vehicle sales and online vehicle purchases.
The business is experiencing very rapid growth so there will be lots of opportunities. You will typically be doing 2 or 3 trips a week and staying overnight in the sleeper cab 2 to 4 nights per week. The vehicle is based in our yard near Chichester. You will be collecting various cars and vans including some damaged vehicles. You will be required to drive and appraise each vehicle at the point of collection so a good knowledge on cars is important.
Duties include:
- Driving and operating an 8 vehicle transporter with spec lift
- Following predefined routes for vehicle collections
- Inspecting vehicles to ensure they match description, including scanning for fault codes
- Loading broken down vehicles from private addresses - sometimes with poor access
- Communicating with Head Office on vehicle conditions
- Loading and unloading a variety of vehicles in all conditions
- Adhering to driving regulations
For this role you will need to offer:
- A current Class 1 HGV license
- Good mechanical knowledge and an interest in cars
- Previous motor trade experience
- Experience with recovering accident damaged or salvage vehicles
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- A can do attitude in challenging recovery situations and poor access
- Good initiative and problem solving skills
- Reliability with excellent timekeeping
Basic salary £38,000 (dependant on experience and skills) plus average uncapped monthly commission of £1,500 upwards! Monday to Friday.
